Step 1: Purchase KTM Train To JB Tickets Online (Counter/Web/App)

Buy your KTM train tickets from the KTM website. You can also do so via mobile app or over-the-counter.

You are advised to keep a copy of your e-mail confirmation on hand in case of any complications.

Reminders:

Make sure you have a valid passport, as your passport will serve as your boarding pass. You will not be able to board the train without one.

Step 2: Go To Woodlands Train Checkpoint Bus Station

From Woodlands MRT Station, walk to Woodlands Bus Interchange.

At Woodlands Bus Interchange, you’ll see a signboard listing all the buses (with respective berths) going toward Woodlands Train Checkpoint, just as below:

Once you’ve decided which bus to take, queue at Berth XX and get on bus XXX. Then, alight at Woodlands Train Checkpoint Bus Stop (Bus Stop ID: 46069).

Walk to Woodlands Train Checkpoint (about 5 minutes). Go up the stairs into the building.

Note: Please stay alert during your bus ride. Depending on which bus you take, it can only be a few stops before you reach Woodlands Train Checkpoint Bus Stop.

Step 3: Wait For Gate To Open

Look out for the signboard that tells you where to queue. Then wait for the gate to open.

Step 4: Scan Your Passport as Physical Ticket To Board The Train

As mentioned, with KTM Shuttle Tebrau’s newly implemented scanning system, your passport now becomes your boarding pass.

You will have to go through the Automatic Controller Gate (ACG) and have your passport scanned for verification purposes.

Reminder: Ensure your passport has at least 30 days validity from your date of travel.

Step 5: Customs Clearance

Go through both Singaporean and Malaysian immigration and customs clearance.

These are all done at Woodlands Train Checkpoint. There’s no need to undergo it again at JB CIQ First Link.

Step 6: Take The 5-Minute Train Ride To JB From Singapore

Once it’s time to board, get on the train. The entire journey from Woodlands Train Checkpoint to JB Sentral is only 5 minutes.

Please be aware that the boarding gate will only open 40 minutes before departure time and will close 20 minutes before departure time.

If you miss the train or the gate is already closed, walk to Woodlands Checkpoint instead by following the signboards (as below):

Proceed to clear customs at Woodlands Checkpoint. Then follow the crowd and take the bus to JB CIQ First Link.

Note: While you’ll see a seating number on your train ticket, you might not get that exact seat on the train.

Step 7: Walk JB Sentral Hall (No Custom Clearance Is Needed)

Once you’ve arrived at JB CIQ First Link, follow the directions to walk to JB Sentral Hall.
